Sai Jounouchi

She's known as Sai the "Ice Machine" Jounouchi due to her cool and calm style of fighting. Her angel Shirahime strikes fear in her opponets due to the fact that Shirahime always seems to know the opponents moves and weaknesses. Why? Because Sai studies all players and finds their weaknesses and predictable moves accordingly. Unlike most anime girls, namely those in CLAMP productions, Sai is not a bubbly girly and hyper character. She's calm, cool, collected. Often times she is viewed as a bit "cold-hearted", but dont be fooled by her prickly personality. Deep down there really is a heart of gold there.

Sai gets into Angelic Layer when her younger sister Rin points it out to her. Rin has an incurable disease that is slowly eating away at her and is thus hospitalizied. Because of this Rin could never play Angelic Layer, though this did not stop her from dreaming about it. Rin asks her older sister if she would play the game for her and even designs the angel's looks and outfit herself. Upon naming the angel though she is stumped and asks Sai to come up with a strong and beautiful name, Shirihime (White Princess) is the name Sai suggests. It is her younger sister's love of the game (and the champion known as Shu) that Sai becomes a Deus and begins duelling. She duels to become stronger.

Her one true friend is Kaede Saito the deus of Blanche who has known her since middle school and was there by her side when Rin passed away. Sai holds admiration for all players and a deep love of the game.

Her Angel

Shirahime (White Queen/Snow Princess) is Sai Jounouchi's angel. Shirahime's costume and appearance were designed by her younger sister Rin. Because Rin could never play the game she asked that Sai play it for her, Sai agreed. Rin requested that the angel have a beautiful and strong name and Sai suggested Shirahime, which Rin immediately loved.

Shirahime is a heavyweight angel whose emphasis is in defense and strength. Shirahime effectively uses her strength to overpower her opponets. In episode #18 entitled "Many Strong Opponets! The National Games of Everyone's Dreams" during Sai's first match of the Nationals against Tsubasa McKenzie and her angel Eagle we find out that Shirahime is also an angel that was made from the first batch. This means that like Kaede's angel Blanche, Shirahime can also go into Hyper Mode.
