Manga vs Anime

Because the anime was only set to run for one season instead of continuing alongside the manga some events in the anime were altered to bring a sense of "closure" to the storyline. It should go without saying that there are spoilers here in this section. Now, here's how it deviates:

. In the Manga

Unlike the anime's version, Raki does not ride into Pieta in search of Clare. Instead he continues to travel alongside Isley and Priscila. The wounded Claymores are not carried off to an abandoned building out of sight of the battle either. Instead, Miria, Helen, Deneve, and Jean are all within sight of the battle between Rigardo and Clare. This is a crucial fact that had to be altered in the anime.

Immediately after defeating Rigardo, Clare's yoki goes wild and she loses control of her body which results in her attacking Helen when she runs up to congratulate her. Clare realizes she has passed her limits and can no longer return to her human form on her own. Wishing to die with a human heart, Clare begs Helen, who can safely attack from a distance, to finish her off. As Helen prepares to do so, Jean steps up and grabs her arm, effectively stopping her from attacking Clare. Jean instead moves forward, alowing Clare's rogue limbs to penetrate her, embraces Clare, and states that she's paying back her debt. With the last of her energy, Jean syncs her yoki with Clare's and pulls her back.

. In the Anime

The wounded are carried off to an abandoned building out of sight of the battle and can only hear and sense the fight between Clare and Rigardo. Raki seperates from Isley and races into Pieta but is scared by Clare's appearance and what it means. After defeating Rigardo and passing her limits Clare asks Helen to end her life so that she may die a human. Jean, along with the other Claymores are too far away to see this let alone step in to stop it. Just as Helen gathers her courage to kill her friend, Clare senses Priscila's yoki nearby and changes her mind and immediately takes off to confront Priscila. Miria, Deneve, and Helen give chase, but Raki remains behind out of fear and shame. After they're gone, Jean approaches Raki and convinces him to go to Clare. With Raki's assitance, and following the sword marks left behind by Miria and the gang for them to follow, Jean is able to stumble her way to the new battle location where Clare and Priscila's fight is going down. After defeating Priscilla, Clare tries to kill her but is stopped Raki. Unable to control her body Clare attacks him and is intercepted by Jean. It is at this point that Jean synchronizes her yoki with Clare's to bring her back.
