Dorothy was a childhood friend of both Treize Kushrenada and Millardo Peacecraft (Zechs Merquise), and is the grandaughter of Duke Dermail of Romafellor. The three children [Zechs, Treize, and Dorothy] played together in the Sanc Kingdom before its fall at the hands of Romafellor. It is befitting then that Dorothy's first appearance in the show is as a representative of Romafellor sent to the revived Sanc Kingdom now under the governing of Relena (Dorlain) Peacecraft.

Dorothy attends Relena's school and also wishes to see peace in the near future. Unlike Relena, Dorothy does not believe that total pacifism and the abandonment of weapons will lead to peace. Dorothy has a deep admiration for mankind's will to fight and firmly believes that in order for true peace to be obtained you must first change the heart of the people, otherwise nothing will be accomplished.

After the Sanc Kingdom's second defeat at the hands of Romafellor Relena, lead by Dorothy, is taken to Romafellor headquarters and in an attempt to change Romafellor from within becomes Queen Relena. Seeing her role done Dorothy heads to space to join up with Millardo Peacecraft and the White Fang. The former childhood friends [though not all on the same side] all agree on one thing; in order for true peace to be obtained the will to fight must be eliminated and all weapons destroyed. For that to happen they will stage a beautiful battle, a war filled with horrors so great that mankind will never want to see it repeated again.

Dorothy is also a very skilled swordswoman as both Heero and Quatre find out. Dorothy is very strong willed, determined and kind at heart. She hates her kindness and sees it as a weakness, but by the end of the series Dorothy learns that she must accept who she is.
